Why Visitors Leave Your Website

Why Visitors Leave Your Website

You worked hard to get someone to your website. Then they leave in a few seconds. It’s frustrating — and almost always preventable. Visitors don’t leave randomly; they leave for reasons you can fix.

Why Visitors Leave Your Website

It’s slow

If a page takes more than a few seconds to load, a big chunk of visitors are gone before they see anything. Oversized images are the usual culprit. Fast websites feel professional and keep people around — speed is one of the first things we check in any website optimization.

It’s confusing

When people can’t immediately tell what you do or where to click, they don’t struggle — they leave. Cluttered navigation, too many menu items, and walls of text all create friction. Clarity keeps people moving forward.

It looks outdated or untrustworthy

Right or wrong, people judge your business by your website in seconds. A dated design, broken links, or a missing contact method signals “be careful here.” A clean, current, working site signals the opposite.

It doesn’t work on their phone

Most visitors are on a phone. If your text is tiny, buttons are hard to tap, or the layout breaks, they’re gone. Mobile-friendly isn’t optional anymore — it’s where most of your traffic lives.

The good news

Every one of these is fixable, usually without rebuilding from scratch. If visitors aren’t sticking around, it’s worth finding out exactly why — and a quick conversation is a good place to start.
